MOJI's LVM 2026: A 36-Team Campus Stage Where Prize Money Matters Less Than Development

The draw was held in Jakarta on 25 September. Twenty-two phone calls, and every one answered a question I hadn't asked. MOJI's deputy programming director Banardi Rachmad handed me a row of numbers: 36, 24, 18, 18, 60. I have kept the ledger, and the ledger has kept me—so I looked first at structure and registration, not at the trophy. LVM 2026 is a media-organised university volleyball event: 36 teams from 24 universities (18 men, 18 women), 60 matches across three cities—GOR UII Yogyakarta, GOR Unesa Surabaya, GOR Pertamina Simprug Jakarta—from 7-11, 14-18, and 27-31 October. Prizes are development money: 10, 7.5, 5, and 2.5 million rupiah per sector, roughly Rp50 million in all. That phrase 'development money' is the real story. Structurally, this is not a single national bracket. Each city leg has six men's and six women's teams split into two pools of three, meaning each team is guaranteed only two pool matches before a knockout. No tiebreakers or advancement rules are published. Four matches per day fit broadcast windows, not recovery. An 11-day gap between Surabaya and Jakarta breaks narrative continuity; it reads as three satellite tournaments under one brand. Governance is the biggest gap: no PBVSI mention, no eligibility criteria, no published regulation. The balanced 18/18 split and equal prize money is the strongest institutional signal, a replicable design for grassroots events. The field is Java-centric—Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Malang, Jakarta, Bandung, Kediri—so 'national stage' overstates the reach. There are no technical statistics in the announcement: no spikes, blocks, serves, no player or coach names. The real contest will be judged not on 31 October but at the 2027 draw table. If the second edition arrives with outer-island teams and federation recognition, LVM becomes an institution; until then it is a colourful, useful, unproven debut. Volleyball's true blockchain is the chain of registration, eligibility, rules and federation sanctioning. LVM has built its first blocks well. The chain's strength will be tested next year.
